Today we will start our Stewardship series. For those of you who have been going to church your whole life, this time of year is something that you already knew was coming. You could say “I’ve heard it all before” and dismiss it before you even hear it. For those of you who are new to church, this might be a word you have ever heard. When you find out that it has to do with money it might make you think the common cliché that the church only wants your money. Both of these perspectives are wrong. Stewardship is about managing everything that God has given to you.
This two-week series is called Together We Build. Week one: “If God Builds it, They will come.” Haggai 2:1-9. God tells the Israelites who are trying to rebuild the temple to remember what this is all about. God then reminds them that everything is His, the gold and the silver…and everything else. We make all of the plans for our life and then we want God to bless it. This usually includes our plans for our money, possessions and time. We often try and take control and treat our churches the same way. What if we took the position, in all our affairs, to be a manager of life (time, talents, treasure, trash, etc.) and not the owner?
Listen to the message today and be challenged by God’s Word.
