Journey of Recovery: Maintaining Momentum

We have spent the last 7 weeks talking about allowing God to change and transform the darkest parts of our lives with the light of His love. We may have seen some change in us, but how do we keep that momentum going?

Growth is not a straight uphill line. The faith walk will be jagged, like two steps forward and one step back. Some days we will feel like we are soaring on wings like eagles and other days down in the mud with the pigs.

We will have a tendency to revert back to the old lifestyle, which is called Relapse. What I have learned is that relapse is a part of recovery because hurts, habits and hangups are ingrained in us and we will have a tendency to go back to what we know.

Today we will learn about the cycle of relapse and hear what we can do to break the cycle.

Principle 7- Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading  and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and gain the power to follow His will.
