Prodigal God: The Father’s Feast

Sermon for September 2nd, 2018

We are starting a new series called Prodigal God. We will be taking a look at a very familiar parable in scripture. Within the parable Jesus reveals God’s prodigal grace toward both the irreligious and the moralistic. This series is based on a book called Prodigal God by Timothy Keller. Feel free to pick up the book and read it. This series will challenge both the devout and skeptics to see Christianity in a whole new way.

Week 4: The Father’s Feast. Luke 15: 1-3, 11-32. We learn a lot about God, our Father, through this parable. God is the one who is prodigal with his love towards us. He welcomes sinners who have been far from him and he welcomes the “religious” faithful who have tried to save themselves through their faithfulness in God. We can learn a lot by both brothers but more importantly from the Father in the parable who puts on a feast, gives us a ring and a robe and calls us His sons and daughters.

Listen to the message today and be challenged by God’s Word.
