Sermon for December 9th, 2018
At a time when much of the world is frantically looking for the perfect gift, putting up Christmas lawn decorations and anticipating the arrival of Santa Claus, Christians around the world are observing the liturgical season of Advent. From the Latin word for “coming”, Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation for the coming of Christ both in the past in His incarnation as the baby Jesus, but also in the future with His promised second coming as Christ Triumphant. Furthermore, Advent is a time to focus on His present coming to us in the Word and Sacraments. So, we begin our series called The Perfect Gift.
Week 2: The Gift of Eternal Life. Galatians 4:1-7, Hebrews 2:14-15. One of the gifts Jesus was born to give was the gift of Eternal life. How and when did He give us that gift and how does His birth figure into it?
Listen to the message today and be challenged by God’s Word.
