Sermon for December 23rd, 2018
At a time when much of the world is frantically looking for the perfect gift, putting up Christmas lawn decorations and anticipating the arrival of Santa Claus, Christians around the world are observing the liturgical season of Advent. From the Latin word for “coming”, Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation for the coming of Christ both in the past in His incarnation as the baby Jesus, but also in the future with His promised second coming as Christ Triumphant. Furthermore, Advent is a time to focus on His present coming to us in the Word and Sacraments. So, we begin our series called The Perfect Gift.
Week 4: The Gift of Peace on Earth. Isaiah 9:6-7.Jesus was born to bring us peace – that’s what Isaiah declared, and angels sang. But what does that mean? What kind of peace did Jesus come to give me, and how can I receive it?
Listen to the message today and be challenged by God’s Word.
