Sermon for October 1st, 2017
Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob, is thought to be dead. He has been ripped away from his father by his jealous brothers. Yet before we place too much blame on the brothers maybe we should take a look at the actions of dad and favorite son! Either way you look at the plans that Jacob or Joseph had for their future had been destroyed. For Joseph this is the first dead end for him. Just when life is looking up in Egypt it gets taken away again. For 22 years Joseph waits for the dreams of his teen years to come true, but for 71 years he enjoys the blessings of living in harmony with his family. Through the trials, dead ends, setbacks, and more God is at work.
How many setbacks have you experience in life? How many dead ends? How many plans have blown up? How many times have you wondered “What’s up with this God? Is this your plan??” Yet, beyond our comprehension God is at work, putting events and people in place, so that His plan can be fulfilled. When things turn around and life starts to make more sense we shouldn’t be too surprised…this is after all His Story.
Take a listen to the message today and be challenged by God’s Word.
